MTV dance judge pleads no contest to sex charges

LOS ANGELES—A Los Angeles hip-hop choreographer who was a judge on MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew" has pleaded no contest to having sex with an underage girl in the 1990s.

Shane Sparks had been facing eight felony charges involving the alleged crime. The district attorney's office says he pleaded no contest Tuesday to a felony count of having unlawful sex with a minor under 16 after prosecutors dropped the original charges.

A Superior Court judge sentenced Sparks to 270 days in jail and five years of probation. The judge also ordered him to complete 52 sessions of sexual offender counseling and to stay away from underage girls unless an adult is present.
