The release of a new CD by Pastor Norman Hutchins attracted a capacity crowd to the Crystal Room at West Angeles Church of God in Christ. The celebrated gospel artist just issued his 10th album, ‘If You Didn't Know,' which features an array of God-praising songs for those experiencing challenging times.

"Right now, we're going through an economic downturn with people losing their jobs or going through foreclosures. These songs were actually birthed in the atmosphere of worship and are designed to inspire and encourage the people of God, as well as anybody who listens to them, not to give up on your dreams or vision," said Pastor Hutchins.

"But, understand that suffering and affliction and trials come before manifestation and a good song becomes that soundtrack of our lives."

Among the album's selections is the title track, ‘If You Didn't Know,' along with ‘God is Able' and ‘Nobody Gets the Glory.' However, the entire CD is special to Pastor Hutchins because it reunited him with producer Vickie Mack-Lataillade.

"I first met Vickie when I started in 1990, recording with Saints of Praise. We went our separate ways and now, 20 years later, we got together to collaborate on this album," he said.

Pastor Hutchins, who calls West Angeles ‘home,' was greeted by several
friends and fans during the reception. Also, his wife, Karen, was on hand to lend support as she has throughout their marriage. In fact, Pastor Hutchins credited the abundant favor of God and Karen's encouraging presence for his staying power after 25 years in the industry.

"The Bible says ‘to whom much is given, much is required' and what has been my desire is to always keep God first and balance that with my wife, who travels with me full-time. Also, I have a full staff of people that work with me and have a vision for ministry. And when when you do what you love to do, it's not work, it's ministry," he said.

Echoing his comments, Mrs. Hutchins said, "Our success is due to a love for God and love for one another."
