Hearing set against Compton College

A hearing on whether to issue a preliminary injunction against Compton Community College concerning its pending election on November 6, has been set for July 7, 2011 at Compton Superior Court.

On July 5, 2011, the Honorable Judge Hom ordered that the public be given notice by the District of the hearing on Plaintiff's Stipulated Motion for Preliminary Injunction. The injunction, if granted would prohibit the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools from calling the District's November 8, 2011 election. The Stipulated Preliminary Injunction is being sought because the District's trustee areas and election methodology may be in violation of State and Federal laws, including but not limited to the California Voting Rights Act, Elections Code Section 14025 et seq.

The hearing will commence at 9:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, on July 7, 2011, in Department A, of the Compton Courthouse, 200 West Compton Blvd, Compton, CA 90220.
