Rev. Dr. William S. Epps
Second Baptist Church will present two events for the greater Los Angeles community, said Dr. William S. Epps, senior pastor.
A revival will be hosted to open the NAACP 102nd Annual Convention being held in Los Angeles this month. The service will be Friday, July 22, at 7 p.m., with preaching by Bishop T. Larry Kirkland Sr., the presiding prelate of the 5th Episcopal District and president of the General Board of the A.M.E. Church.
"Second Baptist was the registration bureau and conference headquarters for the 19th Annual Conference in 1928. It stands to reason why Second would have the revival to begin this 102nd Annual Conference of the world's premier human rights organization, the NAACP. Please come and bring a friend," said Dr. Epps.
Male Emphasis Sunday will be observed on July 24. Tavis Smiley, broadcaster and philanthropist, will speak at the 8 a.m. service and Dr. Epps will preach at 11 a.m. The theme is ‘Men of Faith Making a Difference' based on Hebrews 11:4-14. The program co-chairs are Welton Jones, Lawrence Harkless and Steve Bagby.
Second Baptist Church is located at 2412 Griffith Avenue in Los Angeles. Call (213) 748-0318 for information.
