The entire community is invited to attend the "Street Dedication and Monument Unveiling Ceremony" honoring The Late Pastor John Henry Broadous, on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at 3 p.m., at the Grace Temple Baptist Church in Los Angeles. The ceremony will include a "Street Dedication", naming the street corners of Gramercy Place and 71st Street as "The Pastor John Henry Broadous Square" by the City of Los Angeles. In addition, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held unveiling a monument erected by the City of Los Angeles, in honor of Pastor John Henry Broadous.

Bishop Miquail Broadous, the visionary behind the Street Dedication and Monument, spearheaded the project. He presented the idea to Councilman Bernard Parks of the Eighth District, encouraging the City of Los Angeles to identify the Grace Temple street corner as a City landmark, recognizing the contributions of his Uncle, Pastor John Henry Broadous.

At the young age of 19, Bishop Miquail Broadous was appointed Assistant Pastor of the Grace Temple Baptist Church, by his Uncle and then Pastor, Rev. John Broadous. After 26 years of pastoring, Pastor Broadous retired and turned the church over to his nephew, Bishop Broadous. Because of the great work Pastor John Broadous did in the city of Los Angeles, and the community, Bishop Broadous felt it only fitting to dedicate the corner of the church where his uncle pastored as the "Pastor John Henry Broadous Square" and to erect a monument in his honor.

"I wanted to do something special for my uncle. He was a great man, and did much to help better our city and community. I want to especially thank Councilman Bernard Parks and his staff for working so hard on this project. It's been a long two years in the making but I am so happy it has finally come to fruition," stated Broadous.

Pastor John Henry Broadous joins his brother, the Late Dr. Hillery T. Broadous in being honored by the City of Los Angeles. The Filmore Avenue School in Pacoima, California, was renamed "Hillery T. Broadous Elementary School."

The "Pastor John Henry Broadous Square" and Monument is located on the corner of Grace Temple Baptist Church, at 7017 South Gramercy Place, Los Angeles, California. (Two blocks west of Western and one block north of Florence.) For more information on the Broadous "Street Dedication and Monument Unveiling Ceremony" call Grace Temple at (323) 971-8192.
