Demonstrating his commitment to aid those less fortunate, Brian Ferguson raised $9,137 to help his church, Trinity Baptist, with its homeless ministry. Ferguson presented the check to Pastor Alvin Tunstill during the worship service on June 19.

The donation marked Ferguson's 15th year of collecting for the homeless. Previously, he ran in more than 50 marathons to raise funds, but now his efforts focus on advocacy and assisting churches with implementing homeless ministries.

The contributions he receives are used to purchase toiletries, sleeping bags, toys, strollers and other items which are distributed by the L.A. Mission staff to clients. He also participates in foot washing and pedicures for the homeless, meals for the homeless, and grooming for the homeless.

"I want to thank everyone who gave towards this cause. I really appreciate Pastor Tunstill and Trinity Church who support me by introducing people to Christ and making sure others see God through our actions," said Ferguson.

A member of Trinity for 25 years, he serves as an usher and sings in the Men's Choir. He has also worked more than 20 years at Westside Academy. Despite his full schedule, Ferguson remains devoted to his ministry.

"Just seeing people lying on the sidewalk made me want to help. Some say people are homeless due to the choices they make, but I say concentrate on the choice we all can make to be forgiving and help," he said.
