Dear Ms. Jackson State
Hello college girl, I enjoyed watching the expressions of your mother and father, cherishing a once in a life time moment. I saw the corners of their lips point to the ceiling (they have yet to curl downward).
You took the stage several times to collect awards for your academic success. I understand you want to become an attorney. I believe in the years to come, your father will describe to me your positive progress. Well, Ms. Jackson State, I have a few words you should take with you to that Mississippi campus. Please take heed and except this letter as a guide.
Soon, you will wake up staring at several walls, which will not bear the resemblance of your mother's kitchen, nor the living room where your family watches television together. You will not be able to yell down the hallway and listen for the response of those who love you, unconditionally. These situations should not bring you fear, they should encourage you to accept the inevitable, womanhood is near.
In college, no one is going to force you to manage your time properly, feed yourself and make it to your classes on time. Instead, you will obtain the attention from young men. Some will have alluring eyes and complementary conversation.
I am not asking you to lock yourself within the security of your dorm room. What you need to understand is, the behaviors of those attractive young men, which offer you attention.
The guy that lures you away from achieving your goals, you may not suspect at first. Keep in mind these three rules, which should help you maintain focus while walking the hallways of that campus.
The first: a young man who is being cultivated into manhood will be supportive and understanding of your academic goals. As his are similar to yours. He will not persuade you negatively, nor lead you down a path that includes digressive behavior. So, cherish your KISSES, like the precious jewel you are! Keep them close to your mind and your heart. In no way should you ever feel pressured to give them away! This behavior will classify you as elegant, with a respected reputation.
The second: never accept dishonesty! Not even once! If a young man lies to you, his motives are selfish and your mental and physical health is not in his best interest.
The third: keep a journal. Document absolutely every experience inside the classroom and out. Do not hide from your thoughts, nor create negative situations to write about. However, eliminate fear from your journaling. Periodically review what you have written and learn from those experiences, so as not to duplicate mistakes.
Ms. Jackson State, develop strong study habits, so as to reward yourself with moments that consists of the college experience (IE, sporting events, parties, or just enjoying the company of new friends). In my opinion, education is the key to success in all areas of ones life. I believe in you, as you have the power to dictate your own future!
A friend of your family
