"Following in the Footsteps of our Ancestors: Children Standing Up for Peace and Justice in the World"

The Limbiko Tembo Kawaida School of African American Culture will host a special collaborative project with the Junior Freedom Fighters where children will stress peace and opposition to war on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 12 noon to 12:45 pm at the African American Cultural Center (Us) and continuing at 1:00 p.m. at Leimert Park at Crenshaw Blvd. and 43rd Street.

Our lesson at the African American Cultural Center, 12 noon to 12:45 p.m., will stress the legacies of Min. Malcolm X and Seba Limbiko Tembo, both whom opposed war and advocated for peace and justice in the world.

The second part of the session, beginning at 1:00 pm, will be held at Leimert Park where children will hold a rally and speak out in opposition to unjust war and the need for peace and justice. The session at the park is organized by the Junior Freedom Fighters, which was founded by one of the students at our school to give a youthful voice to the quest for peace and justice in the world.

For more information, please call the African American Cultural Center at (323) 299-6124.
