The Los Angeles City Section track and field City prelims will be held Thursday at Birmingham High School, giving athletes a chance to make it to next Thursday’s City championship meet, also at Birmingham High School.

In the relays, Carson’s boy’s 4x100 team qualified with the top time of 42.26.  Dorsey made the prelims with a 42.35, Birmingham with a 42.81, and Gardena with a 42.93. 

Taft’s girl’s 4x100 relay team qualified with a time of 47.48, with Carson right behind them with a 47.92. 

In the 4x400 relay, Dorsey’s boy’s team has the fastest qualifying time with a 3:24.38, followed by Birmingham with a 3:25.07, El Camino Real with a 3:25.54, and Carson with a 3:25.78.

On the girl’s side, Carson is the clear favorite heading into the prelims with a time of 3:57.70.  The next fastest time is Dorsey, who qualified with a time of 4:03.82.

In the boy’s 100 meter dash, Verdugo’s Rick Goulsby qualified with the top time of 10.96.  Fairfax’s Terrance Hall is nearly even with Goulsby, qualifying with a time of 10.97.  Jonathan Mariascal from Roosevelt ran a 10.98. 

It appears that defending champion De’Anthony Thomas from Crenshaw, who has a personal best of 10.57, will not be competing in the 100.

On the girl’s side, Marshall’s Latasha Collins has the top time with a 12.43.  Taft’s Lexis Lambert has a 12.50, University’s Ronnika has a 12.55, Narbonne’s Nyesha has a 12.56 and Cleveland’s Mariah has a 12.59.

In the boy’s 200 meter dash, Dorsey’s Greg Veals leads the pack with a 21.82.  Dorsey’s Marvin Hall qualified with a 21.85, Locke’s Devonte O’Connor with a 21.99, and Fairfax sophomore Billy Vaughn with a 22.17.

On the girl’s side, Carson’s Arbony Meighan leads the way with a 25.15, followed by Locke’s Jasmine Waters with a 25.50, Taft’s Lexis Lambert with a 25.51, Carson’s Monay Meggs with a 25.57 and Dorsey’s Breanna Clark with a 25.77.

In the boy’s 400 meter dash, there are six sprinters running in the 49 second range or better.  Dorsey’s Rashard Clark has the top time with a 48.35 and teammate Greg Veals has a time of 48.36.  Birmingham’s Chris Mitchell has a 48.75, Narbonne’s Ronny Hall has a 49.44, Fairfax’s Billy Vaughn has a 49.52, and Carson’s Eli’sha Toler has a 49.62.

On the girl’s side, Carson’s Arbony Meighan leads the way with a 56.70, followed by Taft’s Tatiana McCoy with a 57.54.

In the boys 110 meter hurdles, Dorsey’s Te’von Mitchell qualified with a 15.16, Fairfax’s Chad McDaniel with a 15.30, Dorsey’s Ross Stribbling with a 15.30, and Westchester’s Mendenhall with a 15.36.

In the girl’s 100 meter hurdles, Taft’s Laurie Henigan ran a 14.90, and Palisades Kendall Gustafson ran a 15.27.

In the boy’s 300 meter hurdles, Monroe’s Cheikh Athj and Dorsey’s Khaleel Green both lead the way with a 41.21, followed by Dorsey’s Te’von Mitchell with a 41.29. 

On the girl’s side, Palisades Kendall Gustafson has a time of 45.67, Taft’s Laurie Henigan has a 45.78, and Dorsey’s Monae Dale has a 45.94.
