Rev. Margaret H. McCauley
Park Hills Community Church, Reformed Church in America, will celebrate their 24th Annual Women's Day on Sunday, May 22, at 11 a. m. The theme is "Women, the Future Generation is Our Harvest," based on the Scriptures, Galatians 6:9-10 and John 4:34-36.
Rev. Dr. Richard Lamar Horton is pastor of Park Hills Community Church and Rev. Margaret H. McCauley is the pulpit guest. The public is invited to attend the worship and reception following the service.
Rev. McCauley currently serves at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Westchester. In December 2009 at the Annual Los Angeles Diocesan Convention, she was elected to the Diocesan Council which functions as the advisory council to the Bishop. In addition, Rev. McCauley serves the Diocese as chairperson of the Program Group on Black Ministry.
In 2002, Rev. McCauley, then a member of the Church of the Advent, began exploring a call to ordained ministry as a Vocational Deacon and enrolled at the Episcopal Theological School at Claremont. In 2006, she culminated the Diaconal Studies program earning the required certificate, and was ordained that year in December.
A graduate of Dorsey High School, Rev. McCauley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a master's degree in Educational Administration from California State University, Los Angeles. She retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District after serving 32 years as an elementary teacher, school¬ site administrator and central office administrator.
Rev. McCauley is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Coalition of 100 Black Women; Phi Delta Kappa; Phi Kappa Phi; and Friendly Educators.Dr. Hansonia Caldwell Harriford, noted church musician and choral conductor will direct music for the special worship service. She is also an author with academic specialties in African American music history.Ms. Willie Jewel Miller is president of the Women's Ministries and Mrs. Gay Morris is the Women's Day chairperson.
