Educator Renatta Cooper

The Altadena Christian Children's Center (ACCC) will honor educators Renatta Cooper and Al Lowe for their dedicated leadership at the ‘Superhero Soiree: It Takes a Community.' The affair is set for Saturday, May 21, at 6 p.m., at the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 East Holly Street in Pasadena.

Renatta Cooper and Al Lowe will receive ACCC's Community Partnership Award in recognition of their ongoing commitment, against great odds, to serving the children of the community under difficult circumstances. Lowe led the way for Pasadena schools to become racially integrated and Cooper, a Pasadena Unified School District Board Member, is well known in the community for her professional and personal commitment to young children.

‘It Takes a Community' is ACCC's annual fundraiser that honors and celebrates local individuals who have contributed to improving the lives and education of children. ACCC serves over 60 infants, toddlers and preschool age children who reflect the socioeconomic and ethnic diversity of the Altadena and Pasadena communities.

Featured at the event will be a silent auction, a musical tribute by Superheroes in the Making, and catering by Peggy Dark of ‘The Kitchen for Exploring Food.' The donation is $75.
