The 15th Anniversary of Rev. Alvin Tunstill Jr. and First Lady Dr. Sandra Mitchell-Tunstill will be observed on Sunday, April 10, at Trinity Baptist Church, 2040 West Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The Rev. John L. Reamer Jr., pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, will be the guest preacher at the 7:30 a.m. worship. At the 10:30 a.m. service, the Rev. Carlton A. Rhoden, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Los Angeles, will bring the message.
"Rev. and Dr. Tunstill are being honored and recognized for their many outstanding contributions to furthering and enhancing the spiritual growth of Trinity Baptist Church since they came in April 1996. Their many innovative programs and new ministries are worthy of this honor," said Sister Mattie Gardette, Anniversary Chairperson.
"We cordially invite all former members and the community to join us for this joyful celebration. Both services promise to be filled with prayer, praise, and thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Also, both of our speakers are dynamic, committed and dedicated men of God," she added.
Rev. Reamer has been in the ministry for 16 years and has served at Immanuel Baptist for the past 10 years. Also, he is the Inspector of Public Works for the City of Los Angeles, one of the highest ranking African American general managers in the city. Rev. Rhoden is the first minority Senior Minister in First Baptist Church of Los Angeles' 130+ year history. A graduate of the American Baptist Seminary of the West, he is nationally recognized for his community organizing expertise and has provided advice and consulting for community organization groups throughout the nation.
