Lotus on the Nile Wellness Center in Los Angeles is hosting a yearlong series of workshops beginning March12th that teach the art of urban gardening. Whether you are a novice or an experienced gardener,  learn how time in the garden improves health, reduces waste and feeds the family as it brings the beauty of nature backinto the city landscape.

A food revolution is in season. Where does your food come from? Where does your garbage go? How can you eat better and save money on delicious organic produce? Whether you're gardening in spaces large or small or just enjoying your weekly trip to the farmer's market, there is a very real reason that growing food is getting so much attention. Access to healthy food is a fundamental human right, and with the help of Eugene Cooke and his workshops at Lotus on the Nile Wellness Center, you can make sure that good happens in your garden and in your life.

Attend these workshops and learn how using things that fill the city landscape like newspaper, cardboard and old fencing can create a beautiful garden that will entice you to spend time there and feed the family. Cooke has been growing food and supporting sustainable community projects for over 15 years. He is the former technical director of Food Forestry International in Los Angeles. He is currently developing the infrastructure, operations and curriculum for Truly Living Well Center for Urban Agriculture in Atlanta. His gardens are feeding families from the US to Kenya, and he's recently been spending more time in Southern California, sharing his knowledge and experience in classes, workshops and neighborhood gatherings.

Eugene provides the most important tools to begin an edible garden: knowledge, inspiration, and confidence. Cooke reminds us, "No one is sweeping up leaves or pulling weeds in the forest. It's about cooperating with nature and maintaining a sense of wonder and play in the garden."
The yearlong series includes four lectures entitled "The Edible Garden", "Building Community", "Insights From Africa" and "Gardening For Your Karma".

Lotus on the Nile Wellness Center offers a range of high quality holistic services including acupuncture, yoga, moxabustion, cupping, infrared treatments, myofascial release, and therapeutic massage.
