Choir members associated with the former Greater Bethany Community Church are uniting to present a homecoming concert on Sunday, February 20, at 8:30 p.m., at 8406 South Hoover Street in Los Angeles.

The "Going Back to the Ole' Landmark" service will feature the Greater Bethany Music Ministry celebrating the memories of music during the era of late Bishop Robert W. McMurray.  Choral directors for the event are Trenora Parker, Pastor John Morris, Sherry Breaux, Jonathan Grier and Larry Dennis.

"I believe that our late pastor would be pleased to know that members of his music ministry are coming together, almost 20 years later, for this anointed concert.   We wanted to do something to celebrate our late pastor so we are coming together for this concert.   What makes it so special is that we're going back to our old stomping ground.  The building is now owned by a Hispanic ministry, Elim Central Church, but they are allowing us to hold this event," said Parker.

"This is the church was built under Bishop McMurray's leadership and for us to return to that building has such sentimental and special meaning. We have been making preparations for this concert since September and we feel God's spirit is in all in it.  With all of the encouragement and support we have received,  we believe God is letting us know giving us assurances that He approves our doing this service," added Parker.

Bishop McMurray was renown for his dynamic and progressive ministry at Greater Bethany and his contributions to the ecumenical community at large.  When his health declined in the 1990s,  he personally selected Bishop Noel Jones as his successor and the church is now know as  the City of Refuge.

Admission to the homecoming concert is free, however any donations are tax-deductible.  For information, call (424) 234-8428.
