Entering the Compton zone
In continuing its thrust to birth a new Compton, the city is embarking on an ambitious plan to celebrate Black History month.
The following activities will take place throughout the month of February:
On the 18th, Enterprise zone annual seminar.
This is for the purpose of informing the citizenry about the intricacies of the enterprise zone, what they are and how they benefit those who use them.
It may be analogous to the seminar that was presented to inform the citizenry of the stimulus, which stated: "The seminar will focus on how small businesses may obtain contracts for projects through the Stimulus program. Featured speakers representing the public and private sector markets will present information, highlighting three specific topics: areas of interests for contracting opportunities, contracting requirements for government and corporate procurement procedures, and positioning Small Businesses to have greater accessibility to stimulus dollars."
On the 19th, it's Mardi Gras
A time of celebration and enjoyment for parents and children. In the past, Mayor Perrodin has said, "The City of Compton has a lot of Louisiana natives who would love to go to Mardi Gras, but can't. So we plan to bring Mardi Gras to them and others who cannot Travel to New Orleans."
On the 21st, it's President's Day
On the 25th, it's Senior citizens' Black history program
The senior citizens of Compton are a valuable resource to the young generation. There is an attitude that senior citizens have lived their life and it's time for them to relax. Even though that may be true physically, they have much to contribute in terms of wisdom and understanding.
On the 27th, it's the Explorer's banquet
On the 28th, it's the Explorer's banquet and Block club commission
