Bishop James and Mrs. Deloris Walker

The Southern California Region (SCR) Ministersí Alliance of the Ninth Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will observe its Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Commemoration Celebration Program on Sunday, January 16, at 4 p.m., at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, 971 E. 43rd Street in Los Angeles. Rev. Harlan K. Jones is the host pastor. 

The Rev. Joseph C. Gardner, Sr., is president of the Ministersí Alliance; Rev. Napoleon Goshay is presiding elder of the Los Angeles-San Diego District, Rev. Wendell M. Oldham Jr., is presiding elder of the Los Angeles District, Rev. Julio Andujo is the SCR Regional Administrator, and Bishop James B. Walker, is the presiding prelate. 

ìWe shall overcome as we commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a national leader of the Civil Rights movement and an international standard-bearer for non-violence and peace long overdue,î said a spokesperson.

The keynote speaker will be Rev. William D. Smart, Jr., pastor of Amos Memorial C.M.E. Church in Los Angeles.  The mass choirs of Amos Memorial C.M.E. Church and Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church will render the songs of praise.

ìAll C.M.E.ís, as well as the general public, are invited to attend this glorious commemoration celebration as ëwe lift every voice and sing, tilí earth and heaven rings,î added the spokeperson.
