Spiritual encouragement and physical health are among the topics planned for the 3rd Annual Ministersí Wives Conference and Annual Service set for Saturday, January 22, and Sunday, January 23.The two-day event, sponsored by Christ Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, starts on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Doubletree Hotel, 2 Civic Plaza in Carson. On Sunday at 3:30 p.m., a special worship service will be held at Christ Full Gospel, 12408 S. Main St., in Los Angeles.ìWe present this annual conference to support one another in our endeavors as we serve in ministry with our husbands and in kingdom building,î said Sis. Maria Williams, first lady and president of Christ Full Gospel Ministersí Wives.ìOur focus is not on women as far as what we wear or how we should behave, but that God has called us to a particular ministry and that is our theme ñ ëMinistersí Wives Called to a Particular Pilgrimage.' That journey is very unique in that we are set apart to not only be an example to the world, but to encourage others to follow Christ.îThe conference topics will include The Ministersí Wives Pilgrimage, Ministersí Wives and Self-Care, and The Widowed Ministersí Wives. Also, morning refreshments and lunch will be served.Sis. Kathye Jenkins, first lady of Abundant Grace Bible Church in Hawthorne, will offer insight on the pilgrimage of ministersí wives; Sis. Colleen Bailus, first lady of The Evangelical Free Church of Huntington Beach, will talk on self-care; and Sis. Teresa Curtis, a member of Village Baptist Church, will discuss issues and concerns affecting widowed ministersí wives. At the Annual Day service, Sis. Jennifer Boler, first lady of Peoples Tabernacle of Faith Church, will speak on the theme and Sis. Judith Haywood Johnson, president of the Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows of Inglewood and Vicinity, will give the keynote address. Both events are free and open to all ministersí wives, said Sis. Williams. ìWe want to encourage all ministersí wives to attend, regardless of denomination or ministry. When we look at Christ, He doesnít call a specific denomination, color, or gender. I look at ministry in that same way.
We are all His children because we believe in Jesus Christ.îFor more information, call Christ Full Gospel M.B. Church at (323) 756-9139.
