Hello world, the holiday season is in our rearview, which means many of us have made resolutions that will dictate our motives for the next twelve months. Are the goals we've set for ourselves realistic? Are the relationships we cultivate realistic? Are our lives lived in a fashion that promote positive growth or are our memories full of regret? I believe the answer to these questions will reflect when our goals will be accomplished.

I have been trying to put myself in a position of financial security since graduating from college. Foolishly, I thought that I would have an impressive bank account and plenty of toys to brag about by now. That may not be true today yet realistically speaking; I have failed myself only because my priorities have been misplaced. I am not discussing lack of humility or being materialistic. I am referring to identity.

Allow me to explain. I consider myself to be on a constant journey of positive development yet like any human, my ego interferes when my self-esteem is threatened. Therefore, my decisions are not concretely based on my personality but the emotional satisfaction of my ego. Thus I am not standing strong within my own identity but the occasional approval of family, love ones and acquaintances.

So, if I were an entertainer or a politician, the opinion of others would be of great importance to my financial position in life. Which leads me to question the validity of many relationships we all have with persons who are not our employers or co-workers. I think many of us live in a fantasy based on egotistical fulfillment. I think egotistical fulfillment leads to an undiscovered personality, which leads to one never truly accomplishing their goals.

What I hope to accomplish with this article is, "encouraging you the reader to open up and discover your truest self and allow your own personality to excel." When you allow yourself to shine as an individual with disregard to negative egotistical fulfillment, you are more likely to live free of regret!

So when will your goals be accomplished? When you impress your friends with an expensive car, or when you're wearing diamonds and gaining the attention of persons whom you won't remember by name or face? Remember, the ego can draw extreme negative and positive regard! I believe it to be only human, to desire attention, yet as humans we have the ability to set our own goals, which ultimately shape our own personalities.
