Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the international fraternal association, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will celebrate it's Centennial Anniversary on January 5th. Founded at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana on January 5, 1911, the fraternity has initiated over 150,000 members since its inception, including some of the country's foremost citizens. Members of Kappa's Leadership Team will travel to Indiana University on January 5th to officially kickoff its Centennial Celebration with a historic ceremony that will include the university's president (Michael A. McRobbie), provost (Karen Hanson, Ph.D.), and the mayor of Bloomington (Honorable Mark Kruzan).

As part of the celebration, the Fraternity will have public ceremonies at the gravesites of each of its ten (10) Founders located in seven cities across the country. The ceremonies will begin simultaneously at 4:30 p.m. EST. Founder Byron K. Armstrong will be honored in the Los Angeles, CA area at the Inglewood Cemetery (3801 West Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA 90305) at 1:30 p.m. CST. Again, the event is open to the public. Grand Polemarch Murray said, "As you may imagine, this is a very special time for Kappa. We have planned for this moment for years and it is finally here. Our history is one of individuals who have achieved in every field of human endeavor and we are poised to celebrate the individual and collective accomplishments of our great organization."

Members of the fraternity will travel to Philadelphia on January 6th for its annual Grand Board of Directors Meeting and Centennial Founders' Day Banquet. Over 1200 members, with representation from almost every state, are expected to attend the event which will be held at the Sheraton City Center Hotel on Saturday, January 8th. The weekend will culminate with the fraternity's 4th annual Sunday of Hope Program, a philanthropic partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee for which the fraternity has donated over $1 Million.

The fraternity will end the official celebration with its Centennial Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, July 5-10, 2011. Over 35,000 members, families, and friends are expected to attend bringing an expected economic impact of over $11 million for the city.
