Our Authors Study Club, Inc., recently announced their Honorary Chair for 2011, Mr. Kenneth Bentley, Vice President of Nestle USA, Inc. In his position he is responsible for community affairs, educational programs, the Nestle USA Foundation and Workforce Diversity. Mr. Bentley is a native of Los Angeles, first student body President at Crenshaw High School, has earned a Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree, and Honorary Doctorate in Humanities. An accomplished writer/author, recipient of six bronze Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators and many other Awards. Dr. Genevieve Shepherd, President of Our Author Study Club, Inc. stated, "We are excited to have Mr. Bentley share with us in making our black history celebrations a success in 2011."

Our Authors Study Club, Inc. is one of 53 branches of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, (ASALH) that was founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Its national office is located at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Their mission is to research, preserve, interpret and disseminate information about African American life, history and culture to the citizens of Los Angeles. Plans have been made for special events beginning January 16, through March 12, 2011. Events to come: Prelude Celebration for African American History Month, commemorating Dr. Carter G. Woodson - "Father of Black History", Theme: "Lest We Forget-From the Civil War to Civil Rights" honoring Living Legends and Legacies.

The public is invited to attend the "Celebration", Sunday, January 16, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., in partnership with the Museum of African American Art presenting "Americana" by renowned artist, Fredric Booker, Macy's - 3rd Floor Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, Los Angeles.
