Two community events will be sponsored by Second A.M.E. Church, 5500 Hoover St., in Los Angeles, said Rev. John E. Cager III, senior pastor.

ìOur Annual Christmas Bazaar takes place on Sunday, December 12, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in our C.D. Toliver Fellowship Hall.  We invite the public to come enjoy a wide selection of gift items for the holidays,î said Rev. Cager.

The event is sponsored by the Opportunity Club, Secondís hospitality group which was organized in the early 1950s.  ìWhen the club was formed, all of its members were from the state of Arkansas, also known as the State of Opportunity and since it started, they have served in all areas of the church,î Rev. Cager said.  Richard Howard is Club President and Brenda Pace is Bazaar Chair.

On Tuesday, December 14, at 10 a.m., the Golden Glory Auxiliary will present its Annual Christmas Fashion Show, in the Fellowship Hall.  The program includes clothing by Debbyís Fashion, a silent auction, and lunch for a $5 donation.

The auxiliary was founded in 1999 by Rev. Edna Stafford, Mabel Sanders Redd and Lula Price.  Rev. Cager said, ìThis is a great group for active seniors. They meet twice a month for fellowship, exercise, and table games.  Also, guest speakers are regularly scheduled to talk about health and aging issues.î

Golden Glory members often take one-day trips and have traveled to Catalina Island, Grand Canyon, Ensenada, Griffith Park Observatory, and the Apple, Strawberry and Orchid Festivals.  Luerena Williams is president and program chairs are Carolyn F. Harvey and Fay Swan.

For information on both programs, call Second AME Church office at (323) 753-2451. for further information.
