“You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream!” We’ve all heard that saying and more than likely, we’ve all said it at one time or another. Ice cream in one of the all-American cold treats that almost everybody loved as a child. As adults, we still love the delectably, creamy dish and a couple of ‘divas’ are serving it up in style.
The Ice Cream Sundae Divas are making ice cream look good again. Tasha Thompson and Taniya Luckett are the Sundae Divas and they specialize in creating cold treats just for you.
“We worked together, we became friends. We actually were unemployed; we lost our position with this company. After that, we went into developing our own business,” said Luckett. Recently laid off from jobs within the transportation industry, these two enterprising women and friends looked for and found a common ground…dessert.
“We were retailing at a few festivals and a few different events,” said Luckett. “Ice cream was something that was lacking at these events.” Both Luckett and Thompson put their heads together and the Sundae Divas were born. “The ideas just really ran after that.”
“We wanted to do something that was going to be different and unique,” said Thompson. “We both found that we both had a passion for dessert; we had somewhat of a passion for cooking.” Together, they combined traditional ice cream with baking to create sinfully, good treats.
In February of 2009, the Ice Cream Sundae Divas were officially born and have been making an underground buzz along the way. The Sundae Divas offer a variety of toppings and unique creations with their ice cream. They make their own toppings as well as their own whipped cream.
The Ice Cream Sundae Divas have created their own signature sundaes, sure to appeal to anyone. They are bringing flavors and combinations together you won’t find anywhere else. “Where can you go to get [a] Peach Cobbler Sundae and Red Velvet Cupcake Sundaes? These are things you’re used to eating at your mom’s house,” said Thompson.
They do cater events and have been since last year. The Sundae Divas also cover promotional and corporate events as well. “We try to do something a little bit different, to bring something different to the market by adding themes, and doing different private parties,” said Thompson.
Currently, they do not have a retail shop, but the Divas are fully prepared to cater any event and will possibly be mobile in the near future. “You can book us for different events, and we try to do a lot of events in Los Angeles County, as well as the Inland Empire. We’re actually in the process of looking at becoming mobile,” said Thompson.
The Sundae Divas recently participated in the 2010 Taste of Soul and enjoyed much success at the festival. “It actually was our very first large event with that amount of people. We definitely enjoyed it. We had a lot of people, they just loved our décor, they loved our theme, they loved the business. We just got a lot of feedback from the public,” said Luckett.
