Serra High School’s Dominic Smith continues to climb up the ranks on the national scene. The baseball phenom recently became the first ever sophomore to make the Milwaukee Brewers scout team, which will be playing at USC on Wednesday nights.

Smith, who honed his skills with Top Prospects out of Ladera Heights, is on a lot of radars as the prospect and is one of the top of the top players in the nation for his age.

Smith was named 1st team All League (Camino Real) last year as a freshman, when he batted .597 for the season.

Smith was a part of the Urban Youth Academy team that won the RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) Boys Junior Division Championship last year and was invited to a tryout with the USC 16-and-under national team.

Recently Smith participated at an Urban Youth Academy baseball tournament, where he and his teammates competed against Japan’s national team. Smith batted 5-for-11 with three RBI and a homerun.

Smith has been chosen as one of the top 40 youth baseball players, which will allow him to participate in the Houston trials. USA Baseball will choose the top 20 16 and under players in the country to represent the US in Mexico.

Years of hard work has led Smith to this point of his baseball career. He has played travel ball for years, which has given him a major advantage over a lot of children who have only played Little League Baseball. Smith has traveled the country to play in various tournaments. His travels has allowed him to make a name for himself, and if he continues on the pace that he is on, there is no question that after high school he will either have a chance to play college baseball or enter the Major League Draft.
