California Assembly Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass

California Assembly Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass will give the keynote address during the Los Angeles District United Methodist Women's Social Action Day, Saturday, June 26, 8:30 a.m.  - 1:00 p.m.  The event will take place at Culver Palms UMC, 4464 Sepulveda Blvd in Culver City. Southern Christian Leadership Conference President and CEO Rev. Eric Lee will moderate a panel discussion on timely and important social issues such as Environmental Justice, Economic Justice (human trafficking), Healthcare (HIV/AIDS), and Immigration (including 4th Amendment rights).  Distinguished panelists include Tony Wafford, noted HIV/AIDS community activist, Dr. Deborah Robinson, author of 17 "H1NI" Updates, Leslie Gersicoff, Chair of Los Angeles Network to End Slavery (LANES), and attorney John Ayala of the Law Offices of Cobos & Ayala.  Registration is $10.00, and includes a continental breakfast and program materials.  This event is open to the public.  The LAD UMW invites everyone to attend this special event and participate in this cross-generational, inter-faith dialogue on these important issues.  For more information, please call Merle Davis @ 323 937-3046.
