Marvin Sapp considers himself, "not a singer that happens to preach but a Preacher called by God who is gifted to sing." He pastors one of the fastest growing churches in Michigan Lighthouse Full Life Center Church. He is so committed that even with his latest CD, promotional tours, interviews and all the responsibilities that come with being a recording artist he makes it a point to be in his pulpit and bible classes every week. Sapp was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1968 and began singing in church at age four.

The singer-songwriter recorded with the group Commissioned during the 1990s before beginning a record-breaking solo career. In I996 Sapp signed a solo contract and March 1996 saw the release of his self-titled debut on Word Records. The album reunited him with former Commissioned mate Fred Hammond (who produced the LP) and featured the gospel hits "Calling Me" and "In His Presence." Sapp's sophomore effort, Grace & Mercy, appeared in May 1997, followed two years later by Nothing Else Matters.

After a short absence from the music scene, he reappeared under contract at Verity Records and released the song "I Believe" on the WOW Gospel 2002 album, followed by the album I Believe later in 2002. Diary of a Psalmist appeared in 2003, Be Exalted in 2005, and Thirsty in 2007.

Thirsty took Marvin to mainstream radio with the hit "Never Would Have Made It". A song that went well beyond the church walls and connected to everyday people with real life issues. It touched folks who may not go to church but they know that somebody bigger helped them through the trails and circumstances of life.

"Never Would Have Made It" crossed all charts and boundaries with the simple but heart piecing lyrics, "Never could have made it, never would have made it with out you I would have lost it all but now I see how you were there for me".

His latest CD Here I Am debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top 200 Charts right up there with Ludacris and Rhianna. His first single Best of Me, which lyrics are just as simple as Never Would Have Made went #1 on the Gospel singles charts.

Here I Am is a 12 track CD full of songs that speak of life's day-to-day ups downs and disappoints with the underlining theme that with Christ we are more than Conquerors. The live recording is sure to add an upbeat motivational rhythm to your CD collection.
