Westchester's Polee named City Section Player of the Year

All-City first team features three from Westchester and Taft

Westchester senior forward Dwayne Polee, Jr. was named City Section Player of the Year in boys' basketball by a panel of sportswriters Tuesday.

Polee led the Comets to their second consecutive and 11th overall City Section Division I championship.

His father, Dwayne Polee, was named City Player of the Year in 1981 when he led Manual Arts to the 4A City Section championship. The two join Marques and Kris Johnson - both at Crenshaw - as the only father-son combination to win the award.

Seven players from Westchester and Taft made the All-City first or second team while Crenshaw, Washington and Division III City Section champions Verdugo Hills placed two each.

The All-City first team is as follows: Dwayne Polee Jr., Westchester, Sr., Kareem Jamar, Westchester, Sr., Jordin Mayes, Westchester, Sr., Bryce Jones, Taft, Sr., De'Andre Daniels, Taft, Sr., Reynaul Baker, Crenshaw, Sr., Michaelyn Scott, Washington, Jr., Christopher Ashanti, L.A. Jordan, Sr., David Nwaba, University, Jr., Chris Dees, Verdugo Hills, Jr., Jordan Weathers, Fairfax, Sr., Pierson Williams, Taft, Sr.
