President Obama and L. A. Congresswoman Karen Bass, one of his staunchest supporters in Congress.

President Obama meets with Los Angeles African American political, community and business leaders at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Chuck Quarles

Starting his two-day trip in San Francisco, President Obama returned to LA this week for two fundraisers... it takes a lot of money to run for President!  After a whirlwind of fundraisers in the North, the President Obama came to the Southland Wednesday evening, and then he attended a fundraising breakfast Thursday morning with about 300 people in View Park, Los Angeles, according to a campaign official. That breakfast event was held at the private home of Mr. & Mrs. Chuck Quarles, and tickets started at $2,500 per person.

Proceeds from the president's events in San Francisco and Los Angeles are expected to bump up the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.

Coming to the heart of the Black community just around the June 5 primary will boost the President's political fortunes with his base of core supporters.  At the same time, being in town during California's primary day has a thank-you for your support effect, since this state has traditionally voted democratic for a long time ... and it is solidly behind the President with votes and finances.

As the incumbent, with no real opposition, the rough-and-tumble race for the White House is about to begin now that the primary season is over and the there is a presumed GOP nominee. Now the fight really begins.
