Bryant (left) of the Fourth Episcopal District officiated and Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, Sr., of the Fifth Episcopal District delivered the eulogy. Bishop Brookins was a mentor to Bishop Kirkland and appointed him as the first pastor of Brookins Community A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles in 1977.
