Hiawatha Mitchell, Sr.

June 22, 1932 - January 29,2010

Hiawatha Mitchell Sr. was born in Montgomery, Alabama. He gracefully answered the call of the Lord on Friday at 2:35AM in Beverly Hills, California. His passion for youth and helping others, and his leadership abilities were unparalleled. His achievements and leadership titles: United States Army- Korean War Purple Heart, American Legion, Hollywood Post #43's 2nd Vice Commander and Historian; President of Voiture 40 and 8, a 33rd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Most Worshipful Sons Of Light Grand Lodge, Kali Ali Shrine Temple #42, Order of the Eastern Stars and Scions of Hiawatha Lodge #102.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Scott Mitchell. From a previous marriage, three sons: Hiawatha Jr., Robert, and Henry; three daughters: Mavis, Angela and Yvette, fourteen grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded by mother Clauzell (Williams) Mitchell, father James Harris Mitchell, brother James Mitchell, Jr. and sister Doris Mitchell.

Service to be held Presidents Day, February 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., American Legion-Hollywood Post #43, 2035 N. Highland Avenue, Hollywood, CA 90068 . Phone number (323) 851-3030.
