NEW HAVEN, Ct. (BASN) -- They've been the No. 1 team in Black College Football for the majority of the season. Following their win over MEAC foe Florida A&M, the Bulldogs of South Carolina State are still at the top of the heap.

For the second straight week, Buddy Pough's squad (5-1) has the top spot in this week's BoxToRow.com/BASN HBCU Football Polls. However, for the first time this season, SCSU is a unanimous selection in both the coaches and media top tens.

This past Saturday, senior running back Will Ford became the school's all-time leading rusher in their 35-20 victory over the Rattlers at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.

The All-American finished the day with 24 carries for 141 yards and two touchdowns putting him second on the MEAC's rushing list behind Hampton's Alonzo Coleman.

Ironically, it's the Pirates who'll face the challenge of trying to defeat the Bulldogs this Saturday. The Bulldogs travel to Virginia to meet Hampton and will be looking to extend their MEAC winning streak to 15 straight.

Prairie View (4-1) is number two in both polls. The Panthers will be getting this weekend's action started on Thursday night when they travel to Baton Rouge and meet the Jaguars of Southern (4-2) in a key SWAC battle.

The game, scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET start, will be seen on ESPNU.

The rest of the coaches' poll includes Morgan State (5-1) at three; Grambling State (4-3) is fourth, and FAMU (4-2) dropping to fifth. Teams six through ten are Southern (4-2), Norfolk State (3-3), Alabama A&M (4-3), Tennessee State (3-4), and Alcorn State (2-3).

This week's media poll has Albany State (7-0) at three; FAMU is fourth, and Grambling State at number five. Rounding out six through ten are Morgan State, Southern, Bowie State (6-2), Tuskegee (5-2), and Shaw (6-2).

Other key games slated for this weekend are Tuskegee at Albany State in the SIAC, Virginia Union hosting Bowie State in the CIAA, Norfolk State travels to Tallahassee to meet FAMU in the MEAC, and Alcorn State at Alabama State in the SWAC.
