Lois Smith has enjoyed success in just about every field she's been involved with, from telecommunications executive in 1980s, to management with Smith's Food & Drug Distribution in the 1990s and a childcare facility in 1994, but not in her wildest dreams did she envision herself in the highly consumed tea industry.
After all we're talking about an industry that conservatively estimates that $2.80 billion was banked in 2007 on ready to drink tea.
The same year Americans consumed well over 55 billion servings of tea, and on any given day about half the American population drinks tea.
A year before in 2006, Smith founded Serenity Living, LLC thus becoming the first president and chief executive officer.
The company became supplier of 100 percent organic liquid green tea concentrate in small tea bag size packs.
Sereni Tea was born and for the first time ever the vast population of tea drinkers have an alternative that had never been imagined.
Not only does Sereni Tea have the certification of USDA Organic, a distinguish that is most difficult to obtain, but also is certified as an organic tea Germany.
It is a beverage that is not only good for you, but come in a variety of flavors. The many proven health benefits that are contained in green tea are available in Sereni Tea such as boosting the immune system, controlling blood and sugar levels, a rich source of vitamins A, C, and E and reducing the risk of cancer.
"The same way we transformed American coffee culture, we want to deliver an exceptional tea experience for customers with our new better for you options," stated Michelle Gass, executive VP of marketing for Starbucks.
However, not even Starbucks managed to come up with the unique patented concept of Sereni Tea, a foil seal packet that contains enough concentrate to make an 8ounce cup of tea, either hot or cold without losing any of the nutritional benefits. Harvested by hand in the Wuyi Mountains of China, Sereni Tea meets all of the strict health and environmental and convenience requirements that Smith was looking for.
"We're a company born and pursued with passion," said Smith. The product is currently available in more than1100 grocery stores nationwide including Albertsons, Stater Bros and Jewel-Osco here in the Southland.
It's a tea that is fresh brewed, available in both presweetened and unsweetened and contains zero calories, zero, fat and zero carbs. It also contains double the antioxidants found in one steeped green tea bag.
Oh, by the way it also cost much less than other teas, about 40 cents per packet for the highest quality green tea on the market.
How good is this tea. Well consider that not only is Sereni Tea targeting the billions of tea consumers, but also athletes as an alternative to expensive beverages that does not equal the health benefits of Sereni Tea.
