Pauline Doris Threats

Willis D. Collier

In Loving Memory of Pauline Doris Threats

January 5, 1934 - July 28, 2009

Pauline Doris Threats was the second of two children born to Leroy and Maggie Tate on January 5th, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee. Early in her young life, the family relocated to California, where she attended public schools: Hooper Avenue Elementary, McKinley Jr. High, and Jefferson High School.

She attended the Paradise Baptist Church, where she served and accepted Christ under the direction of Reverend AJ Iverson. She met and married Willis Threats, Jr. in April of 1956. To this union, two children were born, Cameron and Byron. In May of 1969, Pauline gave birth to a third child, Joycelyn Montgomery. Shortly after her second son was born, she became employed with the County of Los Angeles, where she worked for 32 years.

She sought a different spiritual direction and found it at the Ward African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she joined under The Rev. Frank M. Reid, III and served faithfully on Usher Board No. 1 until her health prevented otherwise.

Pauline had a great love for family. Her motto was, "Help one another, work, and believe in God". She was greatly saddened in January, 2008 when her mother, Maggie Easter preceded her in death. Her brother, Joseph Tate also preceded her.

Pauline departed this life on July 28th, 2009. She leaves to mourn her passing, son, Cameron and daughter, Joycelyn, both of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Tana Bakewell of Alta Loma, CA and Yolanda Sanders of Castro Valley, CA and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances.
