Interchangeable Cufflinks by Steve AutryBy Jason LewisSentinel Staff Writer"You've probably never seen cufflinks like this before," Steve Autry said, "And you won't see these anywhere else."Autry, who was raised near Crenshaw and 75th St. and attended UC Santa Barbra, came up with the idea for his patented cufflinks by chance."Three years ago my minister picked me out of a crowed of 300 and told me that I would come up with an invention that would make me wealthy," Autry said. "I would have never thought of this, but the man of Gold told me that I was going to have an invention. Cufflinks were the furthest thing from my mind."Autry was putting on his cufflinks when one of them broke."I then heard a voice that said 'interchangeable cufflinks,'" Autry said.Autry took this idea to a jeweler friend of his and they created the cufflink. Since then he has shot a commercial, met with NBA representatives, is awaiting word on a major deal with Macy's, and his cufflinks have been showcased at the Magic Trade Show in Las Vegas three times, where he has taken in more than $300,000 worth of orders. The cufflinks have a back that can be connected to different faces. Three to four faces come in a set. They snap into the back with a patented locking mechanism. "The benefit for somebody that loves cufflinks is that you are getting three to four sets of cufflinks in one package," Autry said.Autry plans on branching out in the future, but he's not moving too fast."A lot of people have given me ideas to branch out, but first I need to establish this," Autry said. "Once I establish this then I can add tie clips, studs, and things of that nature."To order these cufflinks, contact Autry at (323) 898-7411, or visit his website, www.changeandlink.net
