Youth enjoy themselves during Inglewood's Easter Eggstravaganza

The Easter Eggstravaganza hit Inglewood for it's 19th year, and this time it was bigger than ever with about 15,000 people in attendance.

Children were treated to carnival rides, games, face painting and a petting zoo, and everybody in attendance was able to eat and enjoy the festivities for free.

"I've always wanted to keep this event free," said Krishna Tabor, creator of the event. "Even for the vendors. They can show their serves, but they cannot charge anybody for anything."

Tabor, the wife Inglewood Councilman Danny Tabor, created the event because she was not able to find a local event to take her child to for Easter. So she teamed up with some other local mothers, and contacted McDonalds, Taco Bell, the Kiwanis Club of America, local community groups and local store owners. Tabor's experience in radio with KACE helped her market the event, and the first year there were about 80 children in attendance at Darby Park.

The event has grown each year. Ten years ago KJLA jumped on board as a media partner, and 8 years ago Hollywood Park asked to be the host site.

Tabor has a long line of supports to help with this event. Ralphs Super Market donated buns and drinks. Nestle donated candy. Other sponsors included FritoLay, McDonalds, Home Depot, and Herbalife,

Support for the event was giving by Girls Scout troop 9615, Eggleston Youth Home, Great Beginning for Black Babies, On Tour Catering, Arts & Minds, South Bay Angel City Links, First5 California, the Long Beach & Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Albertson's, Pepsi, and the Inglewood Public Library.

Many children in Inglewood gave up portions of their spring break to set up for this event.

"This is our 19th year, and each year it gets better and better," said Councilman Danny Tabor. "We have people out here having fun. This is the largest family event of its kind in the county and we're proud to be a part of it."
