Well the voters have spoken and it will be Assemblyman Curren Price who will in all likelihood replace Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas on May 19.
Each of the candidates, Assemblyman Mike Davis, Robert Cole and Saundra Davis are all friends and so it was a win-win no matter who earned the victory.
It was a competitive campaign that ultimately came down to Mike and Price, and the community service that Price put in the bank with volunteer turkey giveaways probably was the difference in the end.
The spoiler in the race was Cole who had a surprising 13.23 percent of the vote and finished ahead of all the other rivals in the race. While Saundra only had 7.61 percent of the vote or 1,803 votes in a low turnout it is enough to tilt the balance in favor of the victor.
Much props to Price that I think will be a great senator for the state of California and Mike can continue to do the great work he has begun in the Assembly.
I think each of the new faces gave us a glimpse of the talent we have in the political arena.
However, it is very important that no matter how few candidates we have running or when an election occurs, that we must vote. It is our right and our responsibility. We need to keep the same passion we had for President Barack Obama for all candidates of color.
