IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers in Los Angeles County will be open for "Super Saturday," March 21, from 9 am to 2 pm to provide free tax help to area residents. IRS employees will be going the extra mile to: prepare basic tax returns for those whose income is less than $42,000; to work with people having a hard time paying; and to provide tax forms and information about e-File which can speed refunds.

The four IRS offices open for "Super Saturday" are in:

Downtown Los Angeles, 300 N. Los Angeles St.

El Monte, 9350 E. Flair Dr.

Long Beach, 501 W. Ocean Blvd.

Van Nuys, 6230 Van Nuys Blvd.

In addition, more than 20 community organizations who are part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or AARP Tax Aide programs will be open for walk-in visitors on "Super Saturday." They are among the over 150 free tax prep sites that operate during the tax filing season countywide. Some regularly serve taxpayers on a walk-in basis while others require an appointment, and days and times of service do vary.

For more information, call LA County at 2-1-1 or AARP at 888-227-7669. And for federal tax info any time of the day or night, visit the official IRS Web site at www.irs.gov.
