Los Angeles artist, educator and publisher, David G. Brown, received a NAACP Image Award for his book "Barack, Race and the Media: Drawing my own Conclusions." The book, which won in the Outstanding Literary Work-Debut Author category, is a satirical collection of political cartoons highlighting the historical presidential run of President Barack Obama and other significant events.

When Brown is not busy putting together timely editorial cartoons for the Los Angeles Sentinel to coincide with current events, he conducts art workshops, produces award winning graphic novels and comic books with positive messages for young people. For a full biography on David G. Brown visit:

The NAACP IMAGE AWARDS, which took place at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 12, 2009, marked its 40th broadcast, and coincided with the NAACP's 100th anniversary.
