George Bush is out and President Barack Obama is in, but it isn't over yet. While what happens in Washington is important, it's what happens here in Carson twice a month that has a larger impact on your life and where you live.
President Obama's plans for America's future are nothing without our help at the local level. Day in and day out and week in and week out, it's what happens twice a month at City Hall that will help to make the change needed in Washington. President Obama can't do it alone, he needs our help collectively to make life better here in Carson and around the country better for all families.
Like President Obama, I have built my foundation on a history of grassroots activism. This same activism propelled me to move from a career in law enforcement and into local government as a member of the Carson City Council in 2005.
For the past four years, I have dedicated my life to improving the lives of the residents of the City of Carson. From establishing Carson's Midnight Basketball program, an effort to remove at-risk kids off the streets during the summer to targeting at-risk you through the S.O.S. (Saving our Sons) and the R.O.S.E. (Reaching Out to our Sisters Everywhere) programs, the focus of my work has been the people.
On March 3rd, I'm asking once again for the residents of Carson to put their trust in me as I run for re-election. While we've made some strides, there is still much more work to do and I am ready to answer the call.
Local government belongs to the people, not the people elected to office. We are there to serve you. On March 3rd, I'd like to continue my tradition of service. Will you support me?
Obama said yes we can, and we did. I am echoing that same sentiment to the residents of Carson. Yes we can, and together on March 3rd, we will.
