The underrated Cardinals are now sitting in the pilot seat. One more plane ride until victory.
After a wild card playoff run, who would ever think the Cardinals would be heading to Tampa Bay Florida to play in the Super Bowl. One word, "Wow"...
After an 8-6 finish for the season, the Cardinals knocked out three teams to become NFC Champions. We've heard of a League Champion Cardinals team before but it happens to be a St. Louis MLB team not an NFL team. The Arizona Cardinals can hopefully get the respect they've been begging for at last.
Just like the last two games the Cardinals have played in, their still not everyone's favorable pick. Who would think they would've made it this far other than the fans in Arizona. Is it that the Cardinals weren't appeasing enough for any doubters to follow? This could be why it's a shocker that they've made it this far.
Kurt Warner has had one of the best careers of his life. Last year he was a back-up quarter back for Matt Leinart. Can you imagine him being a second string player anywhere in this league, the way he has been playing this year. It makes you wonder, what if Warner had the starting position last year, had the Cardinals been able to make a run. Well let's abate that thought and move on. Yes, the Cardinals are really going to be in Florida, playing for a Championship Sunday, February 1st.
Larry Fitzgerald has had a phenomenal year. He's unstoppable on almost any route or slant he runs on the field. He seems to catch any football coming his way. He's still in question on whether he's the best Wide Receiver in the NFL right now, but again he's a Cardinal and no one wants to give their players any titles until maybe a super bowl win.
The main focus for the Pittsburgh Steelers will be to key in on the stud Larry Fitzgerald. That would give Anquan Bolden, another explosive Wide Receiver for the Cardinals, who's been adamant about his play calling, a chance to explode his toughness and talent.
In order for the Cardinals to have a productive game against the Steelers, they must run the ball on the ground and get Edgerrin James involved early. He's had an awesome performance during this playoff run.
"You win these games by getting first downs and moving the chains and not commiting turnovers", said
Edgerrin James. "I'm ready to go out and play old fashioned football."
Expect Adrian Peterson the Cardinals Strong Safety, to come at Ben Roethlisberger early in the game. He will be a dominant factor for the Cardinals defense, along with Linebacker Dansby and Defensive tackle Dockett.
There are five players from the Cardinals going to the Pro-bowl. Strong Safety Adrian Peterson , Quarterback Kurt Warner, Special Teamer Sean Morey, Wide Receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. Warner, Fitzgerald, Peterson, and Boldin were named as starters.
Linebacker Carlos Dansby and Defensive Tackle Darnell Dockett were voted in as alternates.
"It's a great day for the Cardinals, because there have been a number of years where they have had good players and not gotten this recognition," Coach Whisenhunt said. "A lot of times people want to point out the flaws and the faults of the Cardinals and one thing they don't seem to realize is the improvement and the respect other teams have for us. This is an indication of that."
