IMPORTANT MESSAGE: CONSTRUCTION AT LA SENTINEL OFFICE: Due to unforeseen construction work, our office is temporarily closed. We are operating business off site and still accepting ads and classified ads. View Company Directory.
History has been made. I received my absentee ballot today, and I have already filled it out (and will mail it tomorrow). So, I can proudly report to all of you that I have officially voted for Barack Obama as the President of The United States of America.
Voting absentee is the absolute best way to make sure our votes get counted and that we win this election long before November 4th. I want to encourage all of you to vote absentee. Like many of you, I enjoy the feeling of going to the polls and dropping that ballot into the box, but as a person who has worked at the polls, and as many of you who have watched the polling places very closely (The Sentinel is and has been for years a polling place right here on Crenshaw), this is a critical election.
This election is critical not only for the presidency but there are a number of local issues that we have to address as well. A lot of the local races have divided our community and we all have different opinions. Many in our community are divided in the supervisors' race, many of us have been divided on Proposition 8 and Proposition 11, but in almost every instance we are united in Barack Obama.
I think most of us are in support of the Democratic races including support of Congresswoman Diane Watson and Congresswoman Maxine Waters. I know we are all supporting Speaker Karen Bass as well as Councilmember Isadore Hall in their Assembly races and I am sure most of us are supporting Rod Wright for the Senate. But, we still need to get these votes in, so please don't be apathetic, and don't delay lets get those ballots in today. And remember we also only have one week left to register people to vote, so Please find at least one person this week who needs to get registered and get them registered.
I'll see you all next week (October 18, 2008) at Taste of Soul.
Let me know if there are any other issues we need to address, or what other stories we need to tell, let me know what is on your mind. I really do want to hear from you, I want you to "Talk to Danny."
