Since his two electrifying upsets of former welterweight champion Vernon Forrest, Nicaraguan born Ricardo Mayorga has not shied away from saying what he feels about his opponents regardless of whether he makes good on his promises or not.

He is a Spanish speaking, cigarette-smoking version of Mike Tyson. Not even promoter Don King can predict what will come from the mouth of one of his most exciting fighters.

When he fought Oscar De La Hoya a couple of years ago, he spit venom about De La Hoya's wife, making their confrontation personal.

Last year he pledged to send Fernando Vargas into retirement, which he did.

And earlier this week he said of Shane Mosley, his opponent Saturday at the Home Depot Center, that he is "Shot."

"It's going to be a two or three round knockout. Mosley is gone already. I'm going to retire him because he should be at home washing dishes for his wife."

When a reporter suggested that he has not been accurate on many of his predictions in the past he retorted, "I think I will this time because I am fighting a guy who is smaller than me. I saw his hand speed and it is not the same."

When told that Mosley had already defeated Vargas twice including a knockout and that Mosley said that Mayorga could not knockout Vargas is proof that he can't beat him, his reply was predictable.

"Mosley doesn't know what he's talking about. If he stays in the center of the ring and fight he will get knocked out, but he's going to be running and I will have to chase him down. After four rounds he will get tired."

Mayorga insisted that, "If I beat Mosley I want Oscar again."

On the under card undefeated top ranked welterweight contender Andre Berto will risk his 22-0 (19 KOs) record against light hitting Steve Forbes (33-6/ 9 KOs). Forbes lost a lopsided decision to De La Hoya earlier this year in a fight that was closer than the scorecards indicated, but at 25 years old, Berto is considered to be the future star of the division.
