First off let me say to all of you who gave up a Fabulous Sunday Afternoon to come out to USC to vote for me (or any of the other 84 nominees), Thank You.
Not only do I want to thank all of you for coming out and giving your support, but for me and my candidacy, I want to thank you sheerly for getting involved. Not only for being willing to be part of the process, but to give of yourself, your time and your energy for a cause that GREATLY affects us all. To see over 600 delegates show up to cast their ballot at USC was inspirational but it was also a reminder of just how important this presidential election is, was and will be.
I also need to Thank all of my friends and family for giving me the support that I needed to get over the top. An election of this nature is never won by any individual (No matter how GREAT the candidate). It is won by putting in the time and energy and by people who get involved and stand behind you and do the work. So I also want to Thank my team. To Ingrid and Heather Hutt, Thank You for all that you do and did to insure that our message got out, and for making sure that as many people as humanly possible knew I was running. To the team of men who worked so hard to make sure everything was in place, from the water bottles to the signs, to the fliers we passed out at USC I want to say Thank You. To Brandon Brooks for taking the time to cut and re-cut and re-cut again my commercials, I have to say Thank You, not only are you my cousin, but you are also my friend. To my friends and family at Save The Date, Thank You for the e-blast. Thanks for taking the time and spending the energy to not only insure I got to Denver, but for also helping every other candidate get the word our and for letting all of our friends, family and concerned citizens know, who, how and where to cast their vote.
And lastly to Brenda Marsh-Mitchell, not only did you give up your own birthday celebration to insure that we got everything done and made it to Denver on Sunday (and several days prior too), but, you also gave up your time, talent and energy to make sure that I was represented each and every place you could think of during this very quick campaign period. So to that I say THANK YOU.
And by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, again, and again and again.
So, whether you agree or disagree, now more than ever I really need your input. I need to hear from you. I need to know what is going on in our community. I also need to know what other stories we need to tell, and what is on your mind. I really do want to hear from you, I want you to “Talk to Danny.”
Sincerely, Danny J. Bakewell, Jr. President & Executive Editor
