California Revolutionary in Politics
What does street apostle mean, is the question I set out to answer. Is it a question of social responsibility and commitment to helping our people as a whole to overcome some of the barriers concerning Black life here in the hood? So I asked a dear friend of mine who I would like to call a street apostle and a revolutionary in politics by the name of Brother Dale Dogg who grew up on the East Side of the town dealing with the same trials and tribulations that we are so familiar with these days. I honestly wanted to know from him what was his take on the current state of the hood and how could we make steps to help change some of the conditions.
To my shock and surprise he stated that if a person doesn’t have the Lord in his life then his chances of making it in this world under our conditions were slim. His non-profit organization is called KIDS 4 LIFE, a concept that he came up with to help practice some social responsibility in his tribal area in which he feels that a good name is worth more than gold. And having the respect of his tribal area is predicated on giving back and creating situations that will allow young kids the chance to see that someone cares for their well being, and will do what he can to help stop the senseless violence and decadence that has taken a choke hold on our quality of life and the future of us as a race of people.
I wanted to know from the brother what it was that made him care for others in the way that he cares for his tribe. He said that is where his heart is, his people and the conditions that they face. Growing up not being able to have the things that you needed and wanted was the fuel that filled his tank. He stated to me that ‘Jesus was his rock” and without him and his family he would not have the level of understanding that he has concerning the future of other brothers whose children are left behind to live without guidance and love due to many different circumstances. Trying to fill that void is one of the motivating factors that help his organization. He has helped so many people around his area both Black and Hispanic as long as they were in need or were just kids who were stuck in the hood. For example this brother has given away thousands of pounds of fresh food to people from all walks of life who don’t have the needed support systems in place to facilitate a healthy life. This brother told me that having an eye for kids in need in this day and time is one way to become a real street apostle for the people. Plus being an example for those who want to accept the challenge to change their lives and that of his other tribal mates towards a better life of responsibility for their family’s is one way of getting a positive response from the people who society says can’t be reached. After all this brother knows best what life is like in the hood because he is a California Revolutionary in Politics’ concerning the despised and rejected that we see suffering everyday.
In Dale Dogg’s humble thought he truly feels that each hood should try and lead their people back to some spiritual light and true guidance in order to help make a way for the kids who have lost every thing to our foolish some times sporadic behavior. So remember this my readers no matter where you come from you are no greater than your last great deed. So please support Kids 4 Life because after all you were once one yourself.
