Poll Workers Needed in LA County

CNS - Another 300 poll workers are still being sought to staff voting locations for the Feb. 5 presidential primary election, Los Angeles County election officials said.

“Although more than 24,000 poll workers have been recruited, there is still a need for more,” said acting Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan. “The election is less than 15 days away and we’re looking for additional help. Recruitment has been difficult due to the unprecedented number of elections during 2007 and 2008.”

The Board of Supervisors recently approved a $75 year-end bonus for poll workers who work the Feb. 5, June 3 and Nov. 4 elections.

The areas most in need of poll workers are Beverly Hills, Canyon Country, Castaic, Encino, Lomita, the 90045 ZIP code in Los Angeles, the city of Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades, Playa del Rey, Rancho Palos Verdes, Santa Monica, Saugus, Sherman Oaks, Valencia, Venice, Winnetka and Woodland Hills.

Poll workers must be available between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. They are paid $80 for working on election day and $25 for attending a 90-minute training session.
