“I have been many things in my life... a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, student, poet and photographer,” wrote Debra Griffen, author of “A Journey to Wellness: a series of collective thoughts.”

“Today I add cancer survivor to the list. To be amongst the ranks of the few that have endured the ravishment of cancer and lived to share their story is quite an amazing task.”

“A Journey” tells Griffens story with her struggle with breast cancer from diagnosis to victory, hoping to inspire others dealing with the disease into hope. These are the actual entries from the journal that she kept between surgeries, between tears and pain, between chemo sessions, between prayers and during reflections on her life’s phenomenal journey, she said.

Five percent of her book sales will go to the Breast Cancer Care and Research Fund.

“I am honored to say, having had many personal losses due to the attack of this vicious monster, that I stand the victor. I stand with a new voice and a willingness to share...”

Griffen was born the ninth of ten children. Despite being shy and unable to speak her mind for most of her life, she had always wanted to become a writer, she said.

“It wasn’t until cancer that I felt I had something important enough to write about.”
