No, this isn’t a piece about President George W. Bush being the Anti-Christ. The idea of a Republican president being such died with Ronald Wilson Reagan who’s first, middle, and last names each have six letters: 666.
Illegally imprisoned by the Bush Administration in Cuba, Moazzam Begg wrote this chilling observation: “I also read a Tom Clancy novel for the first time. Executive Orders begins with a bitter pilot flying a passenger plane into a building on Capitol Hill, killing the entire US cabinet. Islamic terror cells then launch biological weapons attacks around the US. This provokes a former CIA head, now President, to launch a war, devastating Iraq and Iran. The parallels are uncanny, but the book was written in 1996.” (Enemy Combatant, 2006, p. 182) Regarding President Bush some see uncanny parallels between his actions and what is stated in the Bible at Daniel 11:21-45. You be the judge as you consider a sampling of verses:
Verse 21: There “shall rise up a vile person, to whom they shall not bestow the royal honor; but he shall come suddenly and seize the kingdom by fraud.” To put it lightly, Governor George W. Bush of Texas was not highly regarded. He has not received “the royal honor” he seems to crave. He is accused of having stolen the election, in effect ‘seizing the kingdom by fraud.’ Verse 22: “And the fortified cities in the provinces shall be plundered, and shall scatter before him even the high priests of the covenant.” It is now well known that there was election tampering in various “cities in the provinces,” especially in the state of Florida where Bush’s brother was the governor. The “high priests” of the legal profession, the Supreme Court, illegally defied “the covenant,” that is, the Constitution of the United States. Verse 23: “And some of those who will make a league with him shall work deceitfully against him.” Not only are a few of Bush’s fellow Republicans at odds with him, allied nations are talking about him behind his back. Partial proof of this is the fact that coalition forces slowly withdrawing from Iraq despite Bush’s determination to stay.
Verse 24: “And yet he shall become strong, and ally himself with a small people and with the rich cities; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his father’s fathers; he shall carry away prey and spoil and riches; yea, and he shall devise plots against their provinces.” Bush has ‘allied himself with a small people,’ Israel, and in defying the Constitution of the United States like no past presidential “father” has ever done, he has been described by past presidential “fathers” like Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton (as well as other political luminaries) as the ‘worst president ever.’ Some see the prisoners or “enemy combatants” from Iraq and Afghanistan as the “prey” that he has ‘carried away’ and the oil and opium money from these countries as constituting the “spoil and riches.”
Verse 26: “Yea, those who eat of his delicacies shall destroy him, and his army shall be scattered; and many shall fall down slain.” Political observers see a revolt of sorts, not just against arrogant republicans, but against passive democrats. Bush’s fellow republicans may “eat of his delicacies” with him, but some have already acted to “destroy him” and ‘scatter “his army” of supporters. The political careers of many, like Scooter Libby and others connected to his administration in the past, “shall fall down slain” as it were. Verse 27: “And both these kings’ hearts shall be bent to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but they shall not prosper because the end shall come at the time appointed.” When Bush and Putin, the president of the former Soviet Superpower, sat at a table, observers say they’re both “bent to do mischief.” And when it comes to negotiations, both “speak lies at one table.”
Verse 33-35: “And the righteous men among the people shall teach many; yet they shall fall by the sword and by fire, by captivity and by spoil, for a thousand days. Now when they fall, they shall receive a little help; but many other hardships shall be added to them by means of deception. And some of the wise men shall fall, to test them and to discern, even to the time of the end; for there is a long period before the appointed time.” Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Medgar Evers and others who taught many ‘fell by the sword and by fire.’ Those who live on today suffer “many other hardships...added to them by means of [government] deception,” “to test them.”
Verse 37: “Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above all things.” Bush. Verse 39: “He shall invade the strong provinces, fighting against strange gods, that he may see the victory and rule over many people, and he shall divide the land and sell it for a price.” Iraq. Verse 43: “But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things or Egypt; and the Lybians (sic) and the Ethiopians shall be his allies.” U.S. influence in northern Africa and elsewhere on the continent is undisputed. Verse 45: “And he shall pitch his royal tent in a plain between the sea and the mountain; and he shall guard the holy place; and the time of his end shall come, and none shall help him.” The United States ‘guards the holy place,’ Israel, but this won’t be forever. The “end shall come.”...Amen.
