Dr. Geraldine Branch, age 103, was born Oct. 20, 1908. In the 1930s. She went to New York Medical School on a scholarship. She always knew she wanted to work in medicine. She wanted to pursue a medical degree in the 1930's. And not only did she graduate in the top 10% of her class, but she also got married the same week.
Her interest in medicine may not only have helped her to find her calling, but to also live a longer, healthier life. Branch is a member of a unique group of individuals - one of approximately 53,000 centenarians living in America with an astounding 83% of centenarians being women and only 14% of African American descent.
