Deotay Wilder made short work of another opponent. That brings his record to 24-0 with 24 knockouts.
Time for rising star Deotay Wilder to step it up
If you like knockouts, watch a Deotay Wilder fight. You will get what you are looking for.
In 24 fights he has 24 knockouts, with 15 of them coming in the first round. Only twice has an opponent made it to the 4th round.
The Golden Boy Promotions fighter is 6-7, 215 pounds, and he has very good boxing skills. But legendary boxing trainer and analyst Emaunel Steward, who trains Wilder, is looking for him to fight some tougher opponents. Steward feels that he is a good boxer, but the competition level has not been up to par.
Wilder’s team has been patient to let him develop properly, and they want to see him get in more rounds before brining on tougher competition. But the problem is that Wilder keeps knocking his opponents out in the early stages of the fight.
Wilder won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the heavyweight boxer said that he is ready to take on tougher fighters in his division. Steward, who also trains heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, has had Wilder train with both of the Klitschko brothers, so the young fighter should be ready for boxers who will give him a real challenge.
Mayweather and 50 Cent form The Money Team
50 Cent, left, holds his best friend Floyd Mayweather’s belts. Now he will be promoting Mayweather’s fights.
Earlier this week rapper 50 Cent picked up his best friend Floyd Mayweather from jail after a two-month sentence. Now it is time to get down to business, as the two will promote Mayweather and other fights through a new company called The Money Team Promotions, or TMT.
50 Cent has received a promoter’s license in New York, and he has applied for one in Nevada, which means that Golden Boy Promotions has lost their biggest client in Mayweather.
Golden Boy has promoted Mayweather’s last six fights, even though they never signed him to a promotion deal. Mayweather already had a promotion company, but it did not have a promoter’s license, so it paid Golden Boy a flat fee to promote Mayweather’s bouts.
With the emergence of TMT Promotions, Golden Boy will be cut out of the picture, and out of a potential mega fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao is set to fight on November 10, with three potential candidates. But Mayweather is not on that list. Timothy Bradley is the most logical choice, sense Bradley won a controversial decision over Pacquiao in June. A fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez is a possibility, and the third possible fighter would be Miguel Cotto, who Pacquiao knocked out in the 12th round in 2009. Mayweather easily defeated Cotto earlier this year.
