There isn't anything that can be said for the actions taken against Xavier University student, Ronald Weekley Jr. by the police but FAIL!
The officers in blue responded as if they were apprehending someone armed and dangerous, when, according to Weekley, he was in the process of entering his home. He thought he was being attacked or jumped--no it's just the police doing what is alarmingly becoming commonplace.
What are we supposed to do when those given a badge and sworn to protect and serve--terrorize instead? This isn't new and has been taking place for years, as Black and Brown people have been the most frequent victims. It's becoming scary but more than that, it's becoming intolerable. It's beyond time for a change in our police departments.
The men in blue don't have it easy--many of them are trying to get home in one peace as well. There are many officers who just want to keep the peace and are dedicated to keeping us safe but there aren't enough of them.
The police are becoming an entity to be feared more than respected, admired and looked up to--that isn't good. We all need to do something to turn this around before it becomes something we regret. The last thing we want to see is the creation of a rumored police state policy in this country. Although, many would say it's already happened.
