Karolynne’s Signature Pralines has garnered quite a following that will no doubt be back for her tasty treats.
Karolynne Johnson of Karolynne’s Signature Pralines anticipates interactions with old and new customers.
Throughout her childhood, Johnson would watch in amazement and admiration as her grandmother crafted the Louisiana delicacy of pecan pralines. Simultaneously learning to cook them herself, Johnson appreciated the unambiguous taste of the dessert. Desiring the nostalgia of it all, Johnson began her pursuit of a praline that measured up to that of her grandmother. However, the journey continued and the product was never discovered. Inspired, Johnson referenced the recipe of her grandmother and made pralines that satisfied her heart as well as her taste buds.
Influenced by the love associated with these experiences, Johnson thought to make her business one motivated and managed by family. As a result, Johnson entered this new venture alongside her sister and co-owner, Kassandra Cutler. Honing the skills of her grandmother while including her own finishing touches, Johnson developed the name of the praline enterprise. When asked what continues to inspire her journey, Johnson replied, “To provide good, Southern cuisine on the west coast!”
As a second year participant in the Tate of Soul Festival, Johnson mentioned that she remembers and appreciates the enjoyment on customers’ faces when they taste her product; particularly when Southern natives validate the authenticity of her food. Providing original pecan pralines and a chocolate flavor, Johnson is also excited to see and hear the feedback from patrons that try her new coconut edition. Lastly, she welcomes the opportunity of vending with the Los Angeles Sentinel’s ‘Taste of Soul’ Festival next year.
